Chester County Bank opened on April 22, 1968, in a mobile home on US highway 45 south in Henderson, Tennessee, with assets of $450,000. The community leaders who were instrumental in establishing the bank were Kenneth Woods, Bill Leonard, Joe Pevahouse, Lloyd Tatum, Joe Earl Simmons, Blaine Mosier, James H Record, Johnny Naylor, William Seaton, and Gus Bolen. Gus Bolen, the first bank president, was followed by Kenneth Woods, and then Bill Leonard. Bob East became the president in 1976, and served as CEO and chairman of the board until his death in1997. Neal Smith became President in 1997, Regina East, Chairman of the Board, and Judy Daniel, Chief Executive Officer.
The bank moved to its present location at 244 West Main Street on February 26, 1969. In 1980, Chester County Bank took over an existing bank in Enville, Tennessee. The grand opening of the Enville Branch of CCB was March 22,1980. Chester County Bancshares, a holding company, was established in1983. On July 23, 1990, CCB opened the first supermarket branch in the community at Miller's Big Star. On March 31, 1991, the East Branch on Main Street was opened. In 1996, Chester County Bancshares acquired Farmers and Merchants Bank of Adamsville. In 1997, a new in-house computer system was installed; in 1999, an ATM and new drive-thru opened at the Main Branch, and in 2001 an ATM was installed in the lobby of Freed Hardeman University Sports Complex. CCB continues to strive to meet the growing demands of our customers.
