Aqua Glass Corporation, the world's largest producer of fiberglass bath fixtures, employs approximately 900 workers. Adamsville, Tennessee is the home of Buford Pusser, McNairy County's famous sheriff featured in the "Walking Tall" movies. Adamsville also is the home of Ray Blanton, former governor of Tennessee. Located near Adamsville on 4000 acres overlooking the meandering Tennessee River is Shiloh National Military Park, America's best preserved battlefield and site of the Civil War's bloodiest battle. In addition to this historic park, Adamsville boasts of unsurpassed recreational opportunities. The local golf course, Shiloh Golf Course, features 18 holes of bent-grass greens and Bermuda fairways. Another championship golf course is a trademark of nearby Pickwick Landing State Park. This 1400 acre park on the shores of Pickwick Reservoir offers a full-service marina and a scenic inn with excellent restaurant and convention facilities. Another beautiful park, Chickasaw State Park, is located only a few miles northwest of Adamsville, and McNairy County's own park, Big Hill State Park, provides nature exploration on a more intimate scale. Adamsville and the surrounding communities are noted for numerous antique shops and huge flea markets.
